Initiated by the European Commission and funded by the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) of the EU’s Framework-Programme for Research and Innovation, European Researchers' Night is the largest science outreach and research event in Europe.

Celebrated on the last Friday of September each year, this European Researchers’ Night takes place on 27th September 2024. Bringing together the general public — regardless of age, gender or educational level — and local researchers, this year’s event will once again offer a glimpse behind the scenes into the fascinating world of science with a programme of free, public events across European member states that encourage the active participation of the public in science as well as raise awareness of the research activities of Universities, research centres and innovative companies.

Adding a new format, in 2022 Researchers at Schools was initiated by the same event organisers to further encourage direct interaction between local researchers and primary and secondary school pupils.

In celebration of this year’s European Researchers’ Night, Angelini Pharma launches a special episode of its When I Grow Up series. Supporting the objectives of both European Researchers’ Night and Researchers at Schools, the ‘When I Grow Up’ series produced by Angelini Pharma is a collection of short video interviews in which in-house representatives explain how they came to work within the pharmaceutical industry as well as their specific role within the company.

For this special episode, three Angelini Pharma researchers — Jennifer Bausch (Global Medical Excellence Manager), Marilena Saviano (Preformulation Laboratory Junior Scientist), and Andrea Saltalamacchia (Computational Chemistry Scientist) — come together to inspire young minds to explore science and pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

What sparked their passion for research? What does it mean to be a researcher in today’s world? And what do they love most about their roles?
