Angelini Pharma counts steps and participates in #50MILLIONSTEPS for Epilepsy
This year too Angelini Pharma will take part in the international initiative #50MILLIONSTEPS, organised by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE), joining the fight against the stigma that still surrounds this disease. Thanks to the involvement of all Angeliners and together with colleagues from the Angelini Industries Group, the goal will be to total one million steps altogether, counting them via a virtual pedometer, visible on the website’s home page.
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases with at least 50 million people affected by the disease worldwide and it ranks 6th among neurological diseases in terms of mortality. In Europe alone there are 400,000 new cases every year. However, the stigma surrounding this disease has direct consequences on the quality of life and social inclusion of those suffering from it.
For this reason, each year on the occasion of International Epilepsy Day, which falls on February13th, the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE), the world's largest patients' association, organizes #50MILLIONSTEPS: a global campaign to raise awareness of the issue and to counter the stigma surrounding this disease by encouraging people to share on social media the number of steps they take during the day, accompanied by photos or short videos.
We at Angelini Pharma have taken up the challenge promoted by IBE, inviting all our colleagues to record a short video or take pictures while walking. The videos and photos will be put together to create a Manifesto to support those affected by the disease. It will be posted on Angelini Pharma's social networks.
